Beastreality

In this 30-minute adult animated comedy, we are introduced to Hugh Manly, star and host of the nature show, Beastreality. Hugh holds himself in the same company of the world’s greatest animal experts–especially his idol—David Attenborough, though he is far, far from it. The quality of the show is comparable to PBS circa 1990s and is really only held together by Cami—the director, producer, camerawoman—everything, she does everything (including putting up with Hugh’s endless stream of bullshit). Along for the ride is Hugh’s human punching bag Jimmy, an eager yet terrified young errand boy who would sacrifice anything for Hugh or the show.

On today’s episode, Hugh interviews two sand tiger sharks, Valoria and Chad. These two nefarious, nymphomaniacs share with Hugh and the audience at home (if there even is one) the mating habits of sand tiger sharks, including the fact (yes, this is actually true) that sand tiger sharks cannibalize each other in the womb. They share a video of an ecstasy-filled shark orgy (not actually a fact) along with the birth of a shark who proves it truly is survival of the fittest.

After a quick message from their sponsors, Uncle Artie’s Hearty Soup, Hugh introduces the final member of the Beastreality team—their field researcher (who’s also a field mouse) Walter. Walter is out at sea on Chopper 6, the show’s helicopter, trying to make contact with Hugh’s biggest animal obsession, the blue whale. After a failed interview attempt and a horrible accident involving a sack full of krill and the Chopper 6 propeller blades, we return to the studio.

As always, Hugh signs off with today’s Thoughts for Thoughts, where he likes to open the floor for his guests to share what it is humanity could be doing better for them. Misinterpreting that humans should stop eating shark fin soup, Hugh declares he and everyone watching should stop eating ALL soup. He swears off Campbell’s, Wolfgang, and to the show’s detriment—Uncle Artie—who, after Hugh tells to go fuck himself, calls in and cancels his sponsorship.

The pilot concludes with Hugh and team hose down Walter and share a drink hoping next week will be better.
