About Kat

I’m a Colorado native whose love for storytelling started from an early age. I began by writing and drawing picture books (gaining the small but enthusiastic fanbase of my family) and progressed into shooting terrible films with my dad’s camcorder. Deciding I wanted to hone my skills, I continued to pursue my passion into college earning a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from the University of Denver.

I’ve had several pieces of short fiction published, but I found my true niche in screenwriting. My first screenplay GOZZY BOYS, inspired from my time living in Perth, was a finalist in multiple competitions, including the 2021 Austin Film Festival.

My latest project, a short screenplay called PLOUJÉT, was developed into a short film with Heroine Productions. We shot on Shadow Mountain Reservoir in Grand County, Colorado and it has been selected for both domestic and international film festivals.

My stories are told with both humor and heart, many of which are inspired by my family and experiences traveling to other cultures around the world. Along with writing, I have a huge passion for going on new adventures. My husband and I recently checked off one of our bucket list items—fishing for arapaima in the Amazon rainforest.

In addition to my own creative work, I offer contract services for writers looking to strengthen their scripts. Writing is a very rewarding process, but it can be a frustrating and isolating one too.
