Ploujét
A family sets out for a boat trip and gets caught get up in an odd conversation—what to call human meat. The mood is light until the boat breaks down in the middle of the lake leaving the family stranded. Tensions that have been bubbling up between the two brothers finally reach their breaking point resulting in a blow out between them. The fight is only calmed by their mother who makes them all finally face the true reason they are there–to spread their father’s ashes.
This film touches on the complexity of emotions that accompany grief and how it can bring a family closer together during a time of true hardship. Told with both humor and heart Ploujét is based on true events of the Svaldi family when they said goodbye to their father Paul in the most unconventional of ways.
This passion project originally started under the name OTHER PEOPLE and as it continued to develop into a short film, the main title was changed to PLOUJÉT.
